We have some rentals.  Actually, I have some rentals.  Chris doesn’t love the business like I do.  He says we can do it if I’m the one REALLY doing it. This last house has about had me pulling my hair out trying to rent it.  I’ve had it rented twice with deposits and both people backed out on me.  Hang on.  I STAGED the house to show it better.  That’s a lot of work and paying my favorite college kids in the world to move stuff. Well, when I had it rented the first time, I had all of the furniture MOVED OUT ready for the people.  I feel my blood pressure rising.

This is where this post comes in.  My blood pressure doesn’t need to rise. I DON’T NEED TO BE CONSUMED.  Do you ever have a situation that comes up that is absolutely not life altering or threatening?  It can be something so stupid or middle of the road stupid.  Maybe it’s an off hand comment that your friend made, a situation with your kid that is messing you up inside or a struggle at work. I don’t know.  If it’s your time – and we all know what that means- things can be exponentially worse.

Think of your situation if you have one.  I’m betting you might have one. Now put this verse to it:

“May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.”  Psalm 19:14

This verse just popped me in the face today.  The meditation of my heart hasn’t been good one bit and certainly not acceptable to the Lord. There are so many more wonderful and amazing things that I could be meditating on than a silly house.  I could be meditating on God’s faithfulness and how He ALWAYS comes through for me.  I could be meditating on all of His blessings – so many blessings!  I could be meditating on how I can contribute to something so much bigger than myself.

As far as the situation, I can spend some time trying to come up with a solution but not meditating on how it went south.  That’s the deal.  With the situation, we ask God for help and trust that he will.

Don’t lose your joy over something God can fix.

I ran into an old friend yesterday in the avocado aisle at Target. I loved something she said.  “I thank God for what He is doing.”  No matter how small the situation, God is working.  He wastes no experiences.
