“God will protect you with his pinions;

    you’ll find refuge under his wings.

    His faithfulness is a protective shield.”

                                                   Psalm 91:4

The way God created everything is astounding.  Each creature is fascinating and unique in its own way.  I’ve been reading about the correlation between the way God cares for us and the way Eagles care for their eaglets.

Before eaglets are born, both parents (who are mates for life) get the nest ready for their new arrivals.  Some eagles’ nests are so strong they can hold a human being. They carefully craft it with bones, sticks and twigs.  They line it with fur, leaves, moss, grass and other soft material.

For the first month, the eaglets are cradled almost 24 hours a day.  They are protected and shielded from the elements and predators.  The father brings them food up to eight times a day.  They are cared for in every way. But it is never the parents’ intention for the nest to become the young ones’ perpetual home.

As it is time for the eaglets to get out on their own, the parents start stirring the nest and taking away the fur, leaves and soft material.  The nest becomes uncomfortable as the bones twigs and sticks prod and poke.  As the eaglets venture out to the edge of the nest, the father will fly by with succulent prey in his talons tempting the eaglets to fly.

Maybe you have a situation in life right now that seems difficult and challenging.  Could it be that  God is stirring the nest?  Maybe He wants to take you to the next best thing, but He can’t unless you get uncomfortable where you are right now.
